Teeth as White as Snow

You got your beautiful white dress for your wedding… now it’s time to get a beautiful white smile as well!

I had my 6 month dentist appointment this past weekend, which ironically happened to be the morning after I saw Ke$ha in concert… I don’t think my dentist would have approved of her “before I leave, brush my teeth with a bottle of Jack” lyrics. (Side note, we had an amazing time, she’s a great singer, and I am still finding glitter in my hair.)

Back to having beautiful, white wedding teeth. Unfortunately, many ways to whiten teeth are expensive and packed with chemicals. So while I was laying upside down in the dentist chair (not the most pleasant thing after going out the night before), I asked my dentist for some inexpensive and natural ways to have a bright white smile. For best results, the sooner you start, the better!

  • Anything that will stain your carpet will also stain your teeth. Think coffee, red wine, tea, fruit juices, pop, etc. Limit these to an occasional treat and try to drink them with a straw or in a to-go cup, or give them up before the wedding all together.
  • Baking soda + lemon juice. Mix baking soda and lemon juice (or baking soda and water for anyone with sensitive teeth/gums) and brush your teeth with it as often as needed- especially after a meal.
  • Establish a good dental hygiene routine. This should go without saying! Brush twice a day and floss once a day. Use a whitening toothpaste such as Arm & Hammer Advanced White and keep your floss in the shower to make sure you actually use it. Be sure to also schedule your regular cleaning and check-up at the dentist… just don’t go out the night before!

Don’t forget to share these tips with your future hubby! He may also want to brighten up his smile to match yours!
