Apple and Blackberry Crumble

In a world full of apple recipes (apple pies, apple crisp, apple bread, apple donuts, just to name a few!) how’s a girl to choose just one?? Pinterest can be overwhelming at times and don’t tell me you’ve never felt that way. I finally decided to shut my computer and pull out a few of my favorite cookbooks to hunt for the perfect apple dessert. When I found this Blackberry, Apple and Maple Crumble recipe from Deliciously Ella, I knew I found a winner.

The first day of October is always exciting- it is the start of all the fall activities AND my husband’s birthday! We decided to go apple picking this year as part of his birthday date and use the apples to bake a birthday dessert. If you’re in the Lake County area, I would highly recommend checking out Ziegler Farm. It’s just an apple orchard- no store, no playground for the kiddos, no hay rides, and no jacked up prices. It is simply a family-owned orchard with a large variety of apples to choose from. They are also the only orchard in Lake County that grows the “banana apple”… which actually tastes like a banana! The rainy weather didn’t stop us from picking lots of apples and having fun.

Now… what to do with all the apples?? If you have the time to spend hours looking for the perfect recipe, then go for it (and share some of your spare time please). If not, look no further than this Apple and Blackberry Crumble. It is made of just a few whole ingredients and it took me less than 30 minutes to make. Oats, almonds, coconut oil, and maple syrup are a few of the ingredients used. Take a look at the recipe here!

Top it with ice cream, eat it with yogurt or with a glass of milk. Leftovers taste just as good for breakfast the next morning… if you can make it last that long!

Have you gone to an apple orchard this year?? I’d love to hear what YOUR favorite apple recipe is!
