Summertime in Chicago brings a certain energy to the city. There are outdoor festivals, concerts, bike trails, rooftop bars, and so many more activities to take advantage of. Everyone’s moods are just a little (or maybe a lot!) better when the sun is shining. The drastic difference between the weather in the winter vs. the summer makes you want to spend every warm, sunny day outside. And that’s exactly what we did for Kellee’s bachelorette party last summer!
As far as the bachelorette party goes – I wanted something low-key that would allow time for me to hang out with all of you, since it’s such a rare occasion with me living so far away. A generous family friend offered for us to stay in their condo near Navy Pier, and it was the perfect day for a beach day! It was so great to be able to relax at the beach, play some volleyball, and cool off in Lake Michigan (which was actually a good temperature). Capping off the day with dinner and some downtime couldn’t have been more perfect! – Kellee
Her sister and Matron of Honor, Meghan, planned an incredible party to celebrate the bride-to-be. We stayed in a beautiful high rise next to Navy Pier. The corner apartment gave us stunning view of the lake, the buildings around us, and of course… the traffic!
The majority of the day was spent on Oak Street Beach, soaking up the warm weather. Not only did we get incredible views of the city while walking on the lakeshore trail, but also on the beach itself.
Kellee and became friends after while playing volleyball together our senior year of high school. We then attended the same college, where we also played intramural volleyball together all four years. A day at the beach with Kellee wouldn’t be complete without a little sand volleyball! Working up a sweat made that cold lake water feel so refreshing. After getting our share of exercise and sun, we walked back to the apartment to relax and get ready for dinner.
Dinner plans were made for Bandera, a classy restaurant on Michigan Avenue in the River North neighborhood. Live jazz music, fresh food and cocktails wrapped up the night!
